Phalaenopsis in watercolor using Goat skin as support. This is considered botanical art but also botanical illustration as it shows key characteristics of Phalaenopsis orchids like their roots, leaves and stems but also the flower in a dissection.
Trifolium pratense, Watercolor on cotton paper, drawn from live samples and florets where sketched and painted using a digital microscope to see the shapes, otherwise impossible.
These infographics were created to show the anatomy of common orchids. The illustrations were created from live plants, first sketched by hand, then, drawn in Affinity Designer. I also used Affinity Publisher to create each infographic.
Dogwood illustration in watercolor on cotton paper with botanical elements, petal, stamens and gynoecium in graphite. Sizes are indicated with scale bars.
Cyclamen persicum, in Watercolor on cotton paper. Illustration created from live samples. I wanted to show all possible stages of the flower, as a bud, open and mature and after it lost its petals and has been fertilized and now is producing a fruit. Although in nature we won’t always find plants with their flowers in all life stages, it helps to learn how they look so we can recognize them in any stage of their cycle.
